Colvin & Reece

Pictured above: Colvin Reece & Co. in Downtown Payson, Utah.  The store was established soon after 1900 and remained in business for more than twenty-two years. The business was managed by Thomas E. Reece.  His partner was William Colvin.

In a previous article we discussed one of the first lumber yards in Payson, Central Lumber.  The next two weekly articles will introduce you to other lumber and hardware stores that were also important in the history of Payson.

COLVIN AND REECE LUMBER AND HARDWARE

Colvin and Reece were dealers in hardware, lumber, and building materials. Their store was located at 43 South Main in Payson, Utah. This building later became the home of Forsey’s Variety Store.  Colvin and Reece also sold coal from an area along the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad tracks. They had established a coal yard at this location.
