Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

Susan Penelope Younes Drummond

Susan Penelope Younes Drummond peacefully passed away in her sleep on June 5, 2018. She will be missed by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, nine grandchildren and their spouses, and her great-grandson, all of whom look forward to having her as their guardian angel.

Susan was born on March 17, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to Phillip and Frances Younes, but they soon moved to sunny southern California where Susan grew up. When Susan was a young woman, she attended a dance where she met John Drummond. At first sight, he described her as “the most beautiful woman in the room.”. He asked her to dance, and the rest is history. .They were married shortly thereafter on the 20th of December, 1970. Soon Susan decided that one little baby couldn't be too much trouble and her life became devoted to raising Sherry Lynn, and later to spoiling and supporting her nine grandchildren.

Susan was an educator and a life-long learner. She worked in the public schools, often as a bilingual Spanish teacher. She loved her women's Bible study groups. She always appreciated the arts. She spent years taking her daughter to music and dance lessons. Susan especially loved art when her grandchildren performed or created art. Her life legacy embodies her optimism, her Christian faith, her love and support of her family, and of course, fashion. Susan was never outdated or too old to learn to appreciate new things, especially when her grandchildren performed or created that art. She will be remembered for her immense love and support.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 2 PM, at the Page Ward Chapel, 600 East 700 South, Payson. A visitation will be held from 1-1:45 PM, prior to the services. Interment will be held at the Payson City Cemetery.
