Congratulations Season's First Yard of the Week: Wayne and Amy Taylor Home in Payson

Lou the lovable Bulldog is pictured in front of his home.  This would also be the home of Wayne and Amy Taylor, owners and caretakers of the season’s first Yard of the Week, a beautiful lot in Payson.

For its character and simple beauty, one of Payson’s oldest maintained properties receives the season’s first Yard of the Week.  This would be the home of Amy and Wayne Taylor, whose lovely shady lot in northeast Payson has drawn the attention of locals and visitors passing through.

We offer our congratulations to the Taylors, and share with you their story behind a local property’s rich history and charming appeal:

Our house is a typical Victorian sandstone with fretwork o’plenty!  It was built in 1892 for a local patriarch for the LDS Church on the east side of town.  It sits on a huge corner lot, surrounded by its original picket fence that serves as a charming pain when it comes to its neverending keep-up!

Our family moved to Payson from San Francisco in 1971. The home has been kept in the family ever since. We bought it from Mom and Dad, the late Jim and Julie Reece, in 1992.  After many years of renting it out, we were happy to be able to restore it to its original, deserved charm.

We added the pond fifteen years ago. There is something about the tranquility of running water that makes all of the upkeep worth it. Some of the Coi have lived there happily since the beginning.

The shady patio, covered by a fifty-year-old English walnut tree, is the "hot spot" during the summer.
Many lazy summer morning coffees and evening barbecues are spent here with family.  It always seems 20 degrees cooler here, no matter what time of day.

One thing that we love are the dandelions and violets.  The cute bugs (excluding grasshoppers) are always welcome.  They get watered and tended to all the same!
