Santaquin Legion Auxiliary Veterans Dinner a Huge Success


SANTAQUIN LEGION AUXILIARY HONORS VETERANS

The Santaquin Veterans / Senior Citizen Center was packed to capacity Wednesday evening as American Legion Auxiliary #84 honored 61 Veterans and their partners with a prime rib dinner in recognition of Veterans day.

The crowd was entertained during the evening by Heather Hunt on the piano.

A talk was given by Col. Ronald S. Jensen, US Army Ret. , who spoke on his military experiences and the differences in the different wars over the years.

Chris Richins, Auxiliary President, announced that due to the Auxiliary's fund raising this year, they were able to donate a check to the Fisher House at the VA Hospital in SLC. for one thousand dollars, to be used as needed. The Auxiliary also donated five hundred dollars to Santaquin American Legion Post #84 for new flags and maintenance at the Santaquin Cemetery Memorial.

An Americanism Quilt was raffled off and the winner was D. Frandsen of Leamington, Utah

Next up was Andy Goudy,who entertained the crowd with cowboy poetry.

The American Legion presented “ Special Recognition “ awards to Ted Jones and Clement “Jake” Kester for their work for the unit over the years.

The Auxiliary were honored to have the Mayor of Santaquin and council members in attendance.


Last but not least, the Auxiliary celebrated its 60th anniversary since becoming a unit. Charter member Bonnie Kay (Olson), was present to celebrate the occasion.
