Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

Earlene Thompson

Earlene Thompson, age 67, of  Payson, passed away on October 4, 2018, in Santaquin, Utah. Earlene was born on October 9, 1950 in St. George to Willis Earl and Linna Gubler Rosenlof. She married the love of her life, Parley Dean Thompson on May 27, 1972 in the St. George LDS Temple. Together they had 4 children.

Earlene attended BYU, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in 1972 and Masters Degree in 1977.  She worked in the Palmdale School District for 31 years as a kindergarten and 1st grade teacher. She was also a co-owner with her husband of a Sears Catalog store for 10 years in Lone Pine, California.

Earlene loved to serve others and always could mix up a pan of hot rolls or cinnamon rolls to give to neighbors, friends, or someone in need. She also loved ceramics and twirling the baton.

Earlene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Relief Society President, Young Women Advisor, Primary President, Stake Public Relations Representative, Librarian, Chorister, Chorister Leader, and Temple Worker. Earlene was a gifted Pianist and Organist and enjoyed being an Organist in the Payson LDS Temple. Earlene especially enjoyed her time working with her husband as Ordinance Workers in the Payson LDS Temple. Earlene’s testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ was a prized possession as were her children and grandchildren.  She was faithful to the end.  She left a wonderful legacy of faith and service.

Earlene is survived by her husband, Parley Thompson, children William Thomas (Olga) Thompson of Nashua, New Hampshire, Benjamin Parley Thompson of Hobbs, New Mexico, Sierra Charisse (Sean) Kilpatrick of Kansas City, Missouri, and Elden Willis (Chantell) Thompson of Bastrop, Texas. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, siblings Gayle (Steve)Tomlinson of Ridgecrest, California, Shirlene (Gary) Hill of Orem, Utah, Stanley (Julie) Rosenlof of West Valley, Utah, Darwin Olof Rosenlof of Ridgecrest, California, and mother Linna Gubler Rosenlof of Orem, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Earl Rosenlof.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Payson 9th Ward, 1080 South 930 West, Payson. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson. A visitation will also be held prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Santa Clara City Cemetery, 3780 Windmill Drive, Santa Clara, Utah.
