Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

Faye Barney Mattinson Bird

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Faye Barney Mattinson Bird passed away in her home December 23, 2017 surrounded by her family. Faye was born April 17, 1929 to Gilbert and Vivian Barney of Spanish Fork, Utah. Faye graduated from Spanish Fork High School. Faye married Fred Gene Mattinson January 16, 1948, and they made their home in Payson, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Fred and Faye had 3 children, Stephen, Brad, and Denice.  Fred passed away in 1962, and Faye married Elmer William Bird Jr. September 25, 1964. Faye and Elmer had one son, Kyle. They later divorced.
Faye was very ambitious. She worked at the Del Monte Cannery and later became a hair stylist, working out of her home. She then worked at Mountain View Hospital, before retiring. She loved to work in her yard and had one of the most beautiful yards in Payson.
She loved to be with, and do things for her family. Her family meant everything to her. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and daughter, Denice, her parents and three sisters, Shirley, Fawn, and Carol.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Shellie) Mattinson, Brad (Connie) Mattinson, Kyle (Trista) Bird and son-in-law Daniel Fatai and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Payson 14th Ward Chapel, 110 South 300 West, Payson, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church.
