Deana Floyd and Mackenzie Nelson have brought their paintings together for one show at the Peteetneet Museum Art Gallery.  Meet both artists on Friday, October 27, at a reception that runs from 6-8 PM.

Deana Floyd grew up in Santaquin and graduated from Payson High School 1995.  After, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she attended Graphic Design School.
Ms Floyd is a self-taught painter.  She gets her inspiration from her dreams and thoughts. She now resides in Carbon County and has her work in art galleries in Moab and Helper, Utah.

Mackenzie Nelson is an oil painter who specializes in portraiture, but also paints landscapes, objects, and other subjects that are of interest or are inspiring to her. When painting a portrait, her aim is to capture the essence of the subject’s soul through the look coming out of their eyes. She also loves to work with lighting and uses it to create an interesting depth to her paintings.

Growing up in Provo, Utah, Mackenzie always loved art. Her passion began to blossom in high school where she won the Master’s Award at the Springville Museum of Art Annual State High School show. She was accepted into the Studio Art program at BYU, where she studied for a year and a half before moving to California with her husband. In 2008, she won Honorable Mention for a painting entered into the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville, CA.

Mackenzie now resides in Payson, Utah with her husband and two children. She is a busy mom, who likes to go jogging, is working towards earning a degree online, and of course painting whenever she gets the chance. She is currently working on commissions on a fairly consistent basis, and entering her artwork into shows in the Utah County area. She hopes to create work that is both stunning to the viewer, and true to the subject.

The artist’s reception will take place in the Art Gallery at the Peteetneet Museum and Cultural Arts Center, located at 10 South 600 East, Payson, Utah.  Please feel welcome to attend.
