SHIRLEY ANN MCMULLEN

Shirley Ann McMullen passed away on June 27, 2020 peacefully surrounded by her family. Shirley was born October 2, 1933 in Boise City, OK, to Alty and Violet Travelstead. Her parents moved to Boise, ID and she was raised there through her youth. She was the oldest of three.
She started dancing at a very young age, and at 16, she took over her mother’s dance school which consisted of over 200 students. She danced on Broadway for a period of time. She taught Ballroom Dance at BYU.
She married Bob Shows and had two daughters. She divorced and married Buck Everson and had two sons and was later divorced. In 1971, she met Robert McMullen and was married shortly after. He was her soulmate. After Bob joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. She was an active member and served in many positions, her favorite being an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple.
She was an avid reader and read 2-3 books per week. She also loved to quilt and always had a pet and loved them dearly. She was spunky, fun and full of life. She took pride in her dress and appearance, and always looked beautiful. She loved anything unusual and different including people.
She and Bob loved Western Dancing and they were on a swing dance team. She has been without the love of her life for close to 15 years.
She is survived by Sabrina (Kevin) Kay of Santaquin, Utah, Stephanie (Barry) Smith of Denton, Texas, Lane (Jane Ann) Everson of Salem, Utah, and Logan Everson of St. George, Utah. Shirley has 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, step daughter, and great grandchild.
A special thanks to her Dr. Miller and his staff along with her ministering sisters for their time and love.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11 am at the Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services at Walker Funeral Home 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.

Valerie Eve Jensen

Valerie Eve Jensen, 66, beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in St. George. She was born April 9, 1954 in Payson, Utah,  the youngest child of Lovell Squire and Evelyn Elmer Brook. 

She grew up in Spring Lake and Payson, graduating from Payson High School.

She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tallahassee, Florida.
After her return she attended Utah Technical College and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She married Paul A Jensen March 31, 1984 and the marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple March 1991.

Val spent her life serving others. She spent her life working with the mentally disabled and special needs patients,  with great love and compassion. She lost her first child Evan, shortly after his birth. They later adopted Jenny, a toddler she had worked with while employed at the American Fork Training  School. Next, came 1-year old Hayden.  They completed their family with the adoption of Holly and Yvonne.  She loved her children and did all she could to nurture and give them what they needed.

The family moved to Santa Clara, Utah in 2000.  She continued working as a nurse for Danville and VA hospital.

She leaves behind a legacy. She adored her nieces and nephews, loving them as her own, and continuing when they had children of their own, loving and nurturing her great-nieces and nephews with some of them calling her Grandma. She had many lifelong friends and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Paul, son Hayden (Kyla), of Santa Clara.  Daughter Jenny, St. George, Daughter Holly, Houston, Texas, Daugher Yvonne, Salt Lake City,  Sister, Dorian (George) Tuckett, St. George and brother, Douglas (Nancy) Brook, Pine Valley. Preceded in death by son Evan Paul, parents, and infant brother, Evan Brook.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 30, at 11:00 a.m. following a visitation from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary. Interment will take place at the Santa Clara Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff Street, St. George, Utah (435) 673-2454. Sherol Thomas Wilson

On the afternoon of the last day of Spring, June 20, 2020, Sherol Thomas Wilson passed away peacefully at the age of 89. He was born on March 2, 1931 to Waldo and Bernice Thomas Wilson in Payson, Utah. He was a lifelong resident of Payson.

He attended Peteetneet Elementary School, Payson Junior High, and graduated from Payson High School in 1949. As a senior he played football and was one of the team captains. He was recruited by Snow College and left home to attend and play football. He excelled at math and history and instilled a love of learning to his children and grandchildren.

After graduation from Snow College, he began employment at the Keigly Quarry and retired after 30 years. He was very involved in the farming and the cattle business. He was well known for his business sense and was often sought out by others. Together with his knowledge and hard work, he formed Wilson Livestock. This became the remainder of his life’s work.

In 1953 he met the love of his life Marian Caras from Benjamin and on July 9, 1954 they were married. Their union was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

In 1965 they built a home on the farm and were blessed with 4 children.

He served faithfully in his church as Elders Quorum President, Finance Clerk, and Sunday School President.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Utah Jazz.

He is survived by 3 of his children Nancy (Ken) Head of Washington, Utah; Bart (Teresa) Wilson; and Susan (Curt) Lester of Payson, Utah. He was the proud grandfather of 10 and the great grandpa of 3.

He was preceded in death by his spouse of 66 years Marian Wilson, his son Billy Wilson, both of his parents and his brother Mont Wilson.

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for him at Canyon Hospice, especially Dawn Jones and Korin Grange. We are grateful for everyone at Seasons of Santaquin for the care provided the last four months of his life.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Following the viewing, a celebration of his life will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Payson City Cemetery.

THOMAS RODNEY HUDSON
Thomas Rodney Hudson, age 73, died at home on June 17, 2020, surrounded by his family in Payson, Utah.
Tom was born September 19, 1946 in Payson, Utah to Lily and Rodney (Duke) Hudson. Tom always said he had the best childhood any kid could ask for, growing up in Santaquin in a big, loving family, playing ball, hunting, fishing, and learning to work hard in the family apple orchard.
He graduated from Payson High School and four years of Seminary, which he was so proud of, in 1964. He attended Dixie College and Weber State University, where he played baseball while earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
He married Sue Burton and was sealed in the Manti Temple. They raised their five children in Payson, Utah.
Tom was an amazing and dedicated husband and father, and, like his dad, he made every occasion so memorable.
Tom lived life to the fullest. He was a true outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and being in the mountains. He also enjoyed sharing his love of Lake Powel with family and friends.
He was an avid gardener and got so much enjoyment sharing his bounty with all of his neighbors and friends.
Tom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many callings through the years that he loved, including serving in Bishopric, High Council, and teaching Gospel Doctrine. His favorite calling was working with the youth.
Tom continued his love of learning, earning his Master’s Degree and a PhD from Brigham Young University. His influence as a teacher and administrator was far reaching and has impacted so many people’s lives.
Tom was the ultimate teacher and was always teaching us lessons, even to his very last breath. More than anything, Tom wanted to be remembered as a “Good Man.” He was a loyal friend, a loving husband and father, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Payson, UT), his five children, Andrea (Danny) Lamoreaux (Veyo, UT), Kristen (Nate) Dunford (Payson, UT), Michael (Joanna) Hudson (Payson, UT), Lari (Clint) Sprague (Santaquin, UT), Holly (Jeremy) Gardner (Mapleton, UT).
He was preceded in death by his baby son, Matthew, his parents, and his grandparents.
There will be a viewing held on Monday, June 22, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, in Payson, Utah.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Payson City Cemetery. Please bring a lawn chair as we have been asked to practice social distancing.

Frannie Garcia M. Lopez


Our beautiful mother, wife and grandmother Frannie Garcia M. Lopez of Payson, Utah passed away peacefully surrounded
by her loving family on June 11, 2020.

Frannie was born January 13, 1941 in Pueblo, Colorado to Gregorio Garcia and Emma Pacheco.  She was raised by her
adoptive parents Candida & Juan Baca. She lived her early married years in Delta, Colorado where she started her family.
She later moved to Utah in 1969 where she lived her remaining years with her husband Franciso (Pancho) Lopez and family.
  
She was a long time member of Christian Life Assembly of God.  She was a woman of strong faith and she loved the Lord.

She is survived by her husband Francisco Lopez of  39 years and her children Bernadette (Lolo) Parra, Tom Martinez, Ernie
(Leticia) Martinez, Greg Martinez, Amy Martinez, Yolanda (Ramon) Renteria, Alicia (Antonio) Trujillo, Vicky (Raul) Zavala.
She loved her 29 grandchildren, 45 great -grandchildren and 4 great -great- grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by parents Gregorio (Irmelinda) Garcia and Emma Pacheco, adoptive parents Candida and Juan
Baca, daughter Natalie Martinez, grandchild Jessenia Zavala, her sister Sadie Greathouse and brother Henry Cordova and sister
Josie Hildalgo, and survived by 8 Garcia and 15 Pacheco brothers and sisters.  

Our mom loved the mountains and outdoors and was happiest fishing by the lake “drowning worms”.  She also loved hunting deer
and elk and hunted into her late 70’s.  She loved being around people and going to the local grocery stores and chatting with friends.
She enjoyed helping the Latino community and was known by many as “La Chapara.” 

Mom we love you and we are going to miss you.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.

Leonard Steele

Leonard Eugene Steele, age 90 of Goshen, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020. Leonard was born in Goshen on September 18, 1929  to Leonard H and Sarah Lillian Dodds Steele.

Leonard grew up in Goshen and attended Goshen schools and vocational school. He married LouRita Stilson on July 12, 1950. He entered into the army on January 12, 1951 during the Korean war and was honorably discharged February 3, 1953.

Leonard worked as a mechanic most of his life at various companies including City Auto Sales, Geneva, Western Refrigeration, and South Eastern Public Service. After he retired he worked part time maintenance for Nebo School District.

He loved getting pine cone’s with the family and to cut wood with his grandkids in tow.

Leonard was survived by his children Larry Steele (Provo), Karen (Joe) Vigil (Neola UT), Joyce (Dave) Lant (Spanish Fork) Cindy (John) Bartlett (Las Vegas, NV); siblings Wayne (Lavinia) Steele, Loyle (Roe) Steele, Dale Steele, and Reva Shoell; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife LouRita, a daughter LouAnn Smith, one granddaughter, and one grandson.

The family wants to thank Seasons of Santaquin and staff, Canyon Home and Hospice Health for all the great care and kindness during this difficult time. Also his grandchildren Angie and Jason Cook for all they did for grandpa over the years.

A viewing will be held Saturday June 6th from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Brown Family Mortuary, 66 South 300 East Santaquin followed by graveside services at the Goshen City Cemetery at 1:30 with military rights by Spanish Fork American Legion Post 68.
