Thelma M. Ahlin

Thelma Morgan Ahlin, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother quietly passed away Friday, March 26, 2021. Thelma was born November 18, 1935 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Albert Morgan and Vera Hamilton Morgan and was raised in Goshen, Utah.  She attended school in Goshen, Utah, and later Payson High School.

Thelma married her high school sweetheart Warren L. Ahlin of Santaquin, Utah on August 29, 1953. They made their home in Santaquin where they raised their daughters Pam and Joanne.  Thelma enjoyed riding horses, helping with the ranch, and gardening. She was always up for any job or chore that needed being done with never a complaint.

Thelma retired from Utah Power & Light Co. where she worked as credit manager and was able to meet many people and make a lot of friends.  Early in her life she had worked at Tischner Ford as a bookkeeper, where too she met various people and made a lot friends.  Thelma also did personal taxes for a great amount of local people and made time for them to come into her home accommodating even for later hours in the evenings.  Mom had a great love for gardening, flowers, and her hummingbirds. She grew beautiful flowers every year and took great pride in that and her yard, as well as having geraniums that were 10-18 years old thanks her loving care.

Later in life Thelma and Warren went on a great many adventures and trips, keeping their home in Santaquin, and having a home to winter at in Quartzsite, AZ, and a home to summer in Bloomington, ID. They stayed active well into their older years.

Thelma was always a pillar of strength for the family, dispensing advice when asked and always love and support as needed.  She was a wonderful woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother right to the end.  She will be dearly missed and needed, although it warms hearts to know she's reunited with her sweetheart and our Dad.

Thelma was preceded in death by her loving husband Warren, her parents, and one sister Connie Ryan.  Thelma is survived by her two daughters Pam Ahlin, Joanne (Robbie) Gleave, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, her brother Richard (June) Morgan, sister Debbie (Gordon) Hendrickson.

Our family would also like to extend a very special thank you to Encompass Home Health, the nurses, therapists, and CNA's have been wonderful to our mother.

CLYDE MAURICE ROBBINS

Clyde Maurice Robbins, one of God’s kindest angels, left this earth peacefully on Saturday March 20, 2021, the first day of spring. He was born January 20, 1940 to Thomas LeBaron & Helen Webb Robbins in West Mountain, Utah. He was raised with his siblings in Payson until he was 12 years old, then they moved out to the farm in West Mountain where they had just built a house. He was very athletic and enjoyed most sports. He was on the baseball team in high school and played on several city recreation and church basketball teams throughout his middle age years. He enlisted in the Army Reserves in the spring of 1957 and told many stories of his experience traveling and training to protect our nation. He went to the University of Utah right out of high school, then transferred to BYU so he could take over his parent’s farm. He went back to Weber State University in 1985 to complete their electronics program, and then transferred to UTC (now UVU) to finish his electrical engineering degree. He also worked for the Strawberry Highline Canal Co. for many years.

He met the love of his life, Diane Francom, in 1965 at a family home evening at a neighbor’s house and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on May 28, 1971. They had 7 wonderful children and enjoyed the farm life, raising kids and watching their corn pop up in rows. His two most favorite things in life were his family and working hard. He started a tree farm about 20 years ago, and he had finally found his dream crop! He said he had always wanted to cover his entire farm in trees, and for the most part he accomplished that dream. If you are driving just about anywhere in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, it’s likely you’ll encounter some of his trees that were grown on the farm. He also loved camping and fishing (it was the only way to get him off the farm!). His most frequented spots were Fish Lake and Boulder Mountain. He also loved to run. He would sign up for all kinds of races, most notably the Utah Olympic Senior Games. He placed every year at the Onion Days 5K run in his age bracket, and the last year he participated he was the oldest runner in the entire race. He was always challenging his wife and kids to be the best they could be, and loved watching them succeed. He was always so proud of his family! He enjoyed a very healthy life with only a few bumps along the way until about a year and a half ago when he seemed to slow down fast. It didn’t stop him from helping with the tree farm though! The last couple of years he suffered from congestive heart failure and was recently diagnosed with bone cancer which attributed to his quick decline. Through it all he kept getting on his John Deere tractor to fill holes where trees had been dug. He had a huge, but quiet testimony of God, Jesus Christ, and the gospel. He was always so grateful for his blessings and the life he was able to have.

He is survived by his wife and 7 children; Rachel (Matt) Hardy, Deborah (Dallan) Carter, Kathleen (Jerome) Black, David (Heather) Robbins, Sheila (Terry) Michaelis, Lorraine Hardy and Jennifer Shepherd. He is also survived by 5 siblings and 15 grandchildren, who were the glimmer in his eyes. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a grandson. He was an amazing Husband, Father and Grandfather, and he will be sorely missed. This world will never be the same without him, but he has found peace from his failing body and comfort with loved ones on the other side whom he adores, and we are sure there are trees as far as the eye can see for him!

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the West Mountain Chapel, 5237 W 10400 S, Payson, UT. A viewing will be held prior from 9:30 – 10:45 A.M.

Rickey A Young

Rickey A Young, walked through the veil into the arms of his Savior on March 8, 2021, surrounded by his eternal sweetheart Gloria Young, his family & many angels. Rickey was born February 19, 1955 to James Elmer Young & Venice Pierce in Payson, Utah.

Rick had two big brothers Rex and Brad in heaven to saddle his horse Duke & his favorite mule Jake for a long awaited ride. Steve & Rick had a bond that leaving this earth will not break.  Their love as brothers has been a strength to all of their children. They had many great rides starting as infants.

Rickey held so much love for others and was a protector for his family and loved ones.  He was strong and fought chronic immune illness that was not stronger than his will to be busy and work.  He was brave, facing his failing body.  Rick was proud to serve as an EMT for 11 years on the Payson Ambulance.  Rick was a High Priest and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  A highlight for Rick and Gloria was the opportunity to serve in the Provo & Payson temples. Much peace was found there and gives strength to his family to feel his loving spirit.  Rick also felt peace alone in the mountains on his horse.  Rick was a hard worker for 25 years for Reilly Tar in Springville.  His favorite job before that was working for the Cattlemen’s Association, riding fence.

The blessing in death for Rick is his release from the daily pain he suffered.  He is jumping fences, running, probably fighting someone, and you know he is riding his horses, and kicking them for a few extra bucks.

We would like to thank Dr. David Bennion and his staff for providing the best care that could reach through the heart and stubbornness of our dad. Dr. Bennion, you have been such a blessing in our family's lives and extended his life beyond the 9 lives that a cat would get, and he hated cats. You were more than a doctor. Thank you for being such an amazing friend and holding so much compassion for our dad and our mom, who was ALWAYS at his side.

He is survived by his wife Gloria, daughters Lyn (Nate) Rogers, Tina (Marcus) Stewart, and Amy (Derek) Offret and his fourth honorary “daughter” Lori Hansen.   His Grandchildren Hunter, Corbin, Sarah, & Adrie Rogers, Makell (Jason) Harris, Chase, Trenton, Andie, Skylar, & Cooper Stewart, Isaac & Alexis Walbeck, and Ella Offret. His Brother Steve (Karen) Young, and many nieces & nephews that spent many rides and hunts with him.

He was preceded in in death by his parents Elmer and Venice Young, his brothers Rex, Brad Young. His Sister Laurel Sinyard.

We will miss you like no other! For the first time you can open your eyes and see the world without the pains that held you back.  Thank you for teaching by example as well as saying the words “I love you sweetie”.  We will not forget that we need to appreciate living life to the fullest and loving others. This deep love and living life to the fullest is what Rickey would ask for others to do in his honor.  Also, please give extra hugs to his girls and Gloria until he can again.  He was holding on so long to get in as many hugs as he could.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.  The Graveside service will be held later that same day at 1:00 p.m. at the Payson Cemetery, 805 East 400 North, Payson.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.walkerobits.com.
