Sharon Spencer Lamb

Sharon Spencer Lamb, 76, passed away in Payson, UT on Saturday, April 24, 2021 after an unexpected illness from natural causes.  Sharon was born on August 18, 1944 in Payson, UT to Glen Milton and Ilene Wilson Spencer.  She was the fourth child; Janice, Glen Ray, Dick and Sharon.  She grew up in Payson and attended school at Peteetneet, Wilson and Park View Elementary, Payson Jr. High and Payson High School.   

She met Rickey Glen Lamb from Provo in 1959 and they married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 25, 1961. This August would have been a 60 year anniversary.  She is the mother of Cory, Jamie, Glenda, John, Michael, Jordan, and Rebecca.  She has 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She never wanted any more in life than being a good mother and she was awesome at it. She nurtured her children and grandchildren throughout her life.  She was a strong supporter of her husband as his employment took them to Provo and East Carbon, UT, Loveland, Broomfield, Delta, Steamboat Springs and Castle Rock, CO, London, KY, Tucson and Globe, AZ.  They retired in 2006 and returned to her childhood home in Payson having purchased it from the family when her mother passed away.

Some of her favorite activities include table games, card games (especially Sets & Runs and Pounce), camping, family reunions, collecting and organizing family pictures, Spencer/Wilson genealogy, craft shows, garage sales, family dinners, family travel, keeping a clean and meticulous home and yard, quilting, sewing, cooking and planting and raising flowers and vegetables.

She is survived by her husband Rickey Glen Lamb, children; Cory Spencer (Tracy) Lamb (Spanish Fork, UT), Jamie Kaye (Rodney) Jones (Monument, CO), Glenda Lamb (Greg) Hicks (Aurora, CO), John Rickey Lamb (Steamboat Springs, CO), Michael Brian (Julie) Lamb (Lexington, KY), Jordan Karl (Jennifer) Lamb, (Parker, CO), and Rebecca Lamb (Jeremiah) Ralphs (Herriman, UT), 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Ilene Spencer and her brother, Dick Spencer. 

Sharon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in a variety of positions including Relief Society President (twice), Young Women’s President, Stake Primary Presidency Counselor, Young Women’s Advisor, Ward Dance Director, Early Morning Seminary Teacher, Visiting Teacher and Primary Teacher.  She loved her Primary kids and missed not seeing them at regular church meetings for so long. She was one of the last to earn a Golden Gleaner Award with her husband earning a Master M-Man Award.  She was also Mother of the Ward while her husband served as Bishop.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Building at 681 East 500 North in Payson. A viewing at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West in Payson Friday Night April 30, 2021 from 6 PM to 8 PM and at 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM the morning of the funeral at the church.  Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.  This will be followed by a luncheon at the Lamb home at 327 N. 100 E. in Payson.

NED HANSEN

If I, Ned Humphrey Hansen, were to make this announcement I would say that I was born April 16, 1930, in Mammoth, Utah, to a hard-working farmer, Edmund Hansen, and Della Humphrey Hansen who passed away when I was five years old. I had the dearest 11 brothers and sisters whom I’m excited to see. I would say our parents taught us to work hard, even insisting I come home and milk cows rather than play football. 

I would say I enjoyed school, especially my teachers and classmates who I have still kept in touch with these many years. Their example made me want to be a teacher which I was able to be for over 33 years. My reward was going to Payson Market or just about any other place where someone would always say “Hi, Mr. Hansen!”.

I would say I was proud to serve our country in the Army Signal Corps. When I completed this service, I was able to serve our father in heaven on a mission to the Netherlands where my testimony grew, and I was able to meet wonderful people. 

I would say I got Dan Reid’s permission to marry Danna after he saw what a hard worker I was at a church cleanup. I would say we married in the Salt Lake Temple November 8, 1956 and were blessed with 5 choice children: Karen Kay Swenson (Deceased) (Allen), Daniel Edmund (Kelli), David Reid (Angie), Ann Bunker (Brad), Christine Elizabeth Peterson (Gary), 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. 

I would say the things I enjoyed besides being with our family were growing beans, potatoes, and corn which found their way into many homes. I would say I loved singing and writing productions for special occasions. I would say that at the age of 86 I became a recording star with Brandon Flowers whom I taught in the 4th grade. In between my church callings and garden, I enjoyed wood working being taught by my friend Keith Hone. 

Most of all I would say I love the Lord, I love our family, I love our friends and neighbors, I give thanks to Kiley, Pam, and Denise from Valeo Home Care who made my illness beaerable. I thank the lord for my time on this earth to grow and develop. Until we meet again share love and happiness. 

A viewing will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Funeral services will be Friday, April 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Benjamin 2nd ward chapel, 3238 West 7300 South, Benjamin, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Interment will follow at Payson City Cemetery.

LYNN DELOY DRAPER

Lynn Deloy Draper, 78, of Delta Utah passed away on April 21, 2021 from kidney disease.  He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing in his home.  He was born to Glennes Deloy Draper and LaVerl Rosley Draper on December 25, 1942 in Payson, Utah.

Lynn grew up in Genola, Utah.  He graduated from Payson High School in 1961 and then joined the Army Reserve.  His 6 month basic training took place in Fort Ord, California.  After training was completed, he went on to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in The Great Lakes Mission.  

Lynn was married to LuJean DeGraw of West Mountain, Utah on October 7, 1965 in the Manti Utah Temple.

They were married for 55 years and had 4 children.  Lynn was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various church callings throughout his life. 

He furthered his education by attending Utah Technical College (UVU) where he earned a certificate in industrial military electronics and later became an electrician.  He worked for Tooele Army Depot, UTC, Signetics, Univac, and Geneva U.S. Steel Corporation.  In 1985 Lynn moved his family to Delta, Utah where he worked for Intermountain Power Service Corporation until his retirement.  After retiring, Lynn enjoyed working for Ace Hardware in the Radio Shack department.  He then started his own business making orthotics for his son, Shane.  He has always been quite the handyman and could fix anything. 

From the time he was a little boy, Lynn loved trains.  He built himself a model train track in a room of his home where he enjoyed many hours of fun with all his grandchildren.  He was known as “Grandpa Train”. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling with family and friends.  Lynn was also a big tease. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh.

Lynn is survived by his sweet wife, LuJean DeGraw, his children: Shane (Melody) Draper, Bret (Lisa) Draper, Shelly (Jason) Sabey, and Jennifer (Wayland) Sorenson, 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  He is also survived by his brother, Jay O’Neil Draper.  Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Glennes & LaVerl and his father and mother-in law, Loren S. and Sarah DeGraw.

Funeral services will be held at the Delta LDS 1st Ward building.  A viewing will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday, April 26, 2021 at 9:30 am - 10:45 am with the funeral services following at 11:00 am.  Interment services will be at the Payson, Utah City Cemetery following the funeral. The Draper family would like to thank the medical team who cared for Lynn the last 3 ½ years while he has been on dialysis.  We want to especially thank Dr. Scott Epich, Kelly Valdez, RN, Dr. Alan Smith and his staff, and Hospice care: Sherry Glick, RN and the staff.

The funeral services will be under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.

David Tim Jensen

David Tim Jensen, our beloved “Uncle Dave” has passed away on April 12, 2021 at the age of 72. He was born in Payson on April 21, 1948 to Tim Sterling Jensen and Hazel Miller Jensen. Dave lived in the same house in Payson all of his life.

He is “Uncle Dave” to Nieces TJ Wilcock Hull (Robert M Hull), Tam Wilcock Sanderson (the late, Terry Sanderson) and Nephew Todd Joseph Wilcock (Tiffini Tanner Wilcock), 11 Grand Nephews and Nieces and 6 Great-Great Nieces and Nephews. They loved him and will miss spending holidays, Birthdays and special events with Dave.

Uncle Dave is preceded in death by parents Tim Sterling and Hazel Miller Jensen, Sisters Shirlee Deann Wilcock, Judy Lynn Jensen and Brother (in-law) “Jolly Joe” Joseph R Wilcock. 

In life, Dave worked as a mechanic at Jolly Joes, drove truck at Trojan Power and was a Kmart Associate. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict as “Radar (M*A*S*H)” in the Hawaii Medical Unit. Later he served in the National Guard, was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Family and friends will miss their uncle who walked the streets, picking up food, coins and trash. Stopping to talk (and talk and talk) with neighbors and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who looked after Uncle Dave. The Taylor Elementary School staff for bringing meals and singing carols. To the associates at Walgreens for keeping him out of the cold and laughing with him. To the woman who cut his hair. And the many good neighbors who warmed our hearts with his stories and of their generosity.

Due to Covid, a private graveside ceremony was held.
