Lions Open Region Twelve Action Undefeated at 3-0

The Payson Lions are now in first place in Region Twelve after defeating Delta here in Payson on Tuesday.  The Lions, coached by veteran Dan Lunt, include seniors Kade Jensen, Tanner Newbold, Bret Rowley, Clint Bateman, Jamon Lunt, and Skyler Rowley; juniors Kaleb Wright, Trey McCloud, Jacob Humphreys, and Lander Crook; and sophomores Brycen Wood, Daniel Reno, Dallan Neves, Brody Adams, and Mark Wolf.
Speaking of Delta, Payson and Delta have a history in basketball. In 1972, the Lions, then coached by Roger Reid, who would later coach at BYU, lost to Delta in the State Championship game. The Payson Varsity Team in 1972 included Doug Stewart, Scott Wilson, Gary Weight, Marlin Oldham, Donnie Olson, Veloy Twitchell, Brent Loveless, Ronnie Durrant, Dusty Spencer, Scott Draper, Doug Davis, Darrell Decker, Chris Weight, Dan Sudweeks, Kim Montague, Bruce Ewell, Mark Marvin, Sherl Robbins, and Chad Brown
