Boothe Brothers Provides a Venue for Beginning Artists

Brynn Madsen of Orem has been taking music quite seriously for the past couple of years, and has an interest in pursuing it further.  Luckily, there are venues in the area that provide opportunities to perform before audiences, and one of those is Boothe Brothers, located at 135 North Main in Spanish Fork.

Some ten young performers were on hand Friday night, all students of Becky Millard of Orem, who runs Vox Fox.  Brynn’s mother, Jen Madsen, who was born and raised in Santaquin and is a PHS grad, located Becky via a web search for voice coaches.

The recital was well attended, especially considering the time of the year with so many people taking vacations, etc.  The performers ranged in age from very young, to high school age, some accompanying their vocals on guitar (as Brynn did) or keyboards.

Brynn has had other chances to perform live before audiences, twice at Joe Coffee in Payson, two recitals with Vox Fox, a school prom performance in Orem (Walden Academy), and at a street party in an Orem neighborhood.

“I’ve noticed more volume and control since she’s been taking lessons,” Jen says, “and she’s now working on stage presence.”

Brynn has unique tastes in music, with strong sensitivity concerning irony and angst.  Friday night, her two numbers were “Breaking Up My Bones” by Vinyl Theatre and 21 “Stessed Out” by 21 Pilots.
