Payson High School’s Wrestling Team has won five State Championships: 4A Crowns in 1998, 2009, and 2010; 3A Crowns in 2014 and 2015.  Along with those State Championships have been numerous region, division, tournament, and individual championships.

Gerald Loveless was a wrestler on Payson High School’s first wrestling teams, beginning in 1951.  His sons and grandsons have been major forces in developing a program respected throughout Utah.
The well-attended Hall of Fame Banquet Saturday night paid special honor to Gerald, who passed away October 18, 2015, and to his son Doug, a major force in building and maintaining the PHS Wrestling Winning Tradition.
