Owner-Manager Bryan Dinkel is very enthusiastic about The UPS Store franchise he and his family have opened just north of Wal-Mart. On August 22, 2016, the doors opened at 1392 Turf Farm Way in Payson, and Bryan found himself in a position that provides vital services in today’s fast-paced business and residential world while giving him a chance to work closely with the people who need those services.
“It’s important to be friendly and talk with people,” he pointed out in an interview with The Payson Chronicle last week. “When my wife, Trudy, and I were considering what sort of business franchise would provide that sort of community involvement, The UPS Store seemed perfect. We offer services that bring people to the store for important personal as well as business help.”
Bryan notes that it has become very important to be able to provide a physical address for small businesses that may operate out of residences, with both spouses working, so that deliveries can be made at The UPS Store, and be picked up at convenient times. That does away with having items left on doorsteps of homes, for instance. And sometimes businesses simply prefer having a physical mailing address that is not a home address.
Prior to opening The UPS Store franchise in August, Bryan had spent twelve years managing an electronics parts business just west, across the freeway, on American Way. “I felt good about opening the new store in Payson because I had gotten to know many Payson people over those twelve years and knew I would enjoy working here with the people who would need printing, shipping, laminating, and related services we would provide.” Co-owner Trudy also works closely with the local population as a teacher at Mount Nebo Junior High. Last year she taught at Salem Junior High.
The UPS Store itself is a national franchise that works with other entities, such as the United States Postal Service and DHL as well as its parent company, UPS. In some cases The UPS Store works with large freighting companies, one example being the facilitating of the shipment of a small whale from once aquatic center to another on the east coast.
Locally, there are unique features like offering same-day MTC deliveries. Byan notes that the cost is one dollar for a same-day letter to the MTC. “A lot of deliveries are made to missionaries, both national and international,” he adds.
Another service that Bryan finds is The UPS Store’s efficient handling of returns. The returned item is dropped off at The UPS Store while addressing is facilitated through emailed communication and label printouts.
The store also provides copying services, laminating, and binding. One service that is currently being highlighted is document shredding. On October 8th from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. up to 25 pounds of shredding is free. “The savings could be around $18 for someone taking advantage of the offer,” Bryan points out.
