Lucille Thomas
Lucille Throckmorton Thomas, 88, died June 2, 2018 at her home in Genola Utah, where she so wanted to be. She was born July 17, 1929 the second of four children to Sidney Daniel and Verda Ewell Throckmorton. She married her high school sweetheart Douglas G. Thomas November 24, 1947. They were both born and grew up together in the only ward in Genola at that time. They lived there all of their lives raising their seven children, recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.
Lucille attended Goshen Elementary and Payson High School where she and Douglas dated their senior year.
Music was one of the most important aspects of her life. She taught herself to play the piano, organ and accordion. She was also a choir director for many choirs and for many years. She organized and was involved with musical groups that performed for community events. She and Douglas together were Regional Dance Directors and did the annual June Conference Dance Festival held in Salt Lake City. They were famous for their ballroom dancing.
She loved going out to the ranch with her family celebrating Easter and other family activities. Everyone looked forward to her Christmas raspberry cheesecake.
Her life was full of service to her family, community and church. Doug and Lucille loved working at the Provo Temple together for many years. In 1994-1995 they faithfully served the people of the Montana Billings mission in the Fort Washakie Region.
She has greatly blessed the lives of her 7 children, 42 grandchildren and 58 greats.
She is survived by her husband Douglas, children Dianna (Ed Creer), Gordon, Philip (Janeen), Dallen (Diana), Lucinda, Darrell (Christine), and Chad; sisters Lavina Throckmorton and Twila Hales. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Arden, sister Myrna Steele, and three grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday June 7th at 12:00 noon at the Genola LDS Chapel, 50 North Main Street. The family will visit with friends Wednesday June 6th from 6-8 pm at Brown Family Mortuary, 66 S. 300 E. Santaquin and Thursday at the church from 10:30-11:45 am. Interment in the Genola Town Cemetery.
