Lynette Burton Brown
Our Dear Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister and Friend, Lynette Burton Brown, 67, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family in Provo, Utah on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Lynette was born on April 27, 1951 in Fort Hood Texas, the oldest child of Joseph Sherman and Helen Law Burton.
Lynette grew up in Garden Grove, California with a sister and 3 brothers. She loved them dearly and was a second mother to them. At the age of 14 her family moved to Payson, Utah where she attended Payson High School. Lynette was an honor student who loved learning and enjoyed being a cheerleader. She married Jim R. Brown on July 27, 1967, they later divorced. They had 6 children together. They raised their family in Elk Ridge, Utah. She married JaLynn Steele (later divorced) they built a beautiful home in Santaquin, Utah where she resided until the time of her passing.
She devoted herself to family. Her most cherished role was of mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She never missed a ball game, dance recital or an opportunity to support them in their interests. We will miss her cinnamon rolls, Christmas breakfast casserole, famous potato salad, Sunday dinners, and many family traditions. She was meticulous with the care of her home, yard, and her personal appearance. She never left the house without her hair done, lipstick on, and high heels.
Lynette worked many years at Parkview Elementary School as a skills technician. One of the greatest joys in her life were children. She had a gift of making everyone feel loved and accepted. During her time at Parkview she made many lasting friendships.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lynette centered her life around her love for the Savior and the scriptures. Her faith carried her through many trials in life including the loss of 2 daughters. She served in many auxiliaries in the church including Primary President, Relief Society President, and Young Women’s President along many other church callings. She had a love for the temple where she spent every Thursday working in the Payson Temple. Her strong testimony was an example to all and will continue to be an influence for generations to come.
She is survived by her children Bonnie (Bret) Harmon of Payson, Utah. Amie (Darrell) Jensen of Payson, Utah. Roy (Kolette) Brown of Downey, Idaho. Wes (Sierra) Brown of Levan, Utah. Her siblings David Burton of Spring City, Utah. Becky (Steve) Prescott of Firth, Idaho. Jefferson (Charn) Burton of Salem, Utah.
