Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

Elizabeth Goodall Andrews

Elizabeth Goodall Andrews, 86, of Payson, Utah passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2018 at home. She was born on August 28, 1931, in Santaquin, Utah to Parley Mangus and Laura Jerman Goodall. She had three siblings Aileen Dansie, LaRain (Zaloma) and Vaudis Howarth (Boyd). Her childhood and teenage years were spent in Santaquin going to school, attending church and working, happily surrounded by her extended family, whom all lived with in a four-block radius.
Growing up on a farm, Elizabeth remembers picking fruit during the summers. She was paid fifty cents for picking a crate of raspberries that sold for $3.00. As she grew up she made herself a promise she would never marry a farmer.
Elizabeth graduated from Payson High School in 1949 and began working as a receptionist for Dr. Steele in Nephi, Utah.  While there she was introduced to Verness Andrews.  They were married on November 16, 1956, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Elizabeth then spent the rest of her life supporting and caring for her husband, a farmer.
Verness and Elizabeth settled in Payson, Utah and became the parents of five children. Her greatest enjoyment came from serving her family. Whether making afghans and quilts, baking apple sauce cake or teaching her grandchildren to read, we all felt her love and support in everything we were doing.
Elizabeth continued her love of children’s stories when she became a reading aide for Nebo School District for many years. She diligently and faithfully fulfilled her church callings, especially her years working in the Primary Organization. Elizabeth was a trusted friend and neighbor, who held confidences and relationships near to her heart.
She is survived by her husband, children Karen Buys (Keith), Doris Adams, Bruce (Christy), Keith (Anna) and Laura, 17 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Walker Mortuary (587 South 100 West in Payson). Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, at 11:00 am at the Payson 8th Ward chapel (780 West 500 South in Payson). A viewing will be held at the church prior to the funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery (100 East 300 South in Santaquin).
