Frank LaThair Garner
Frank LaThair Garner loving husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019. Frank was born in Payson, Utah on January 31, 1936 to his loving parents James David Garner and Mary Eveline Hansen.
He graduated from Payson High School with the Class of 1955. He furthered his education with the
U.S. Air Force where he was honored to serve his country from 1955-1961. Frank was a great support
to his family and managed the family dairy farm while his father served a mission.
Frank married the love of his life, Marcia Gay Smith Garner on September 6, 1956 in the Salt Lake
Temple. He worked in various vocations, which included, 3 years at Thiokol as a Metrologist. In 1960
he developed and started an insulation business in Genola, Utah and worked there for 25 years.
He worked at the Dragon Mine in Eureka for 2 years and for 40 years before he retired he ran his own
electrical and insulation business. He was an amazing example, of hard work to his posterity.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Frank became an Eagle
Scout in 1952, with 26 other members of his troop. He enjoyed his calling as Scout Master and taught
his boys the importance of being a true Boy Scout. He had a great love for emergency preparedness
and teaching others the importance of being prepared. He held numerous callings in the church where
he was able to do what he loved most, serve.
Frank is survived by his wife, Marcia Gay Smith Garner, 6 children, Wade (Melanie) Garner, Elberta,
Utah, Gayle Garner, Sandy, Utah, Brent (Carla) Garner, Santaquin, Utah, Teresa (Keith) Casper,
Pleasant Grove, Utah, Trina (Bob) Williamson, Genola, Utah, Marcene (Shane) Perry, Genola, Utah,
31 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren whom he adored.
He is preceded in death by his parents James David Garner and Mary Eveline Hansen Garner, brothers,
Robert, Melvin and Marvin Garner, granddaughter Celia Muhlestein, grandson, Alexander Casper and
great-grandson Nolan Drake.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Garner, Bonnie Ballard Valdez, Richard Porter and the staff at
Seasons of Santaquin and the Central Valley Medical Center Home Health staff for the loving care
shown to our husband and father.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. located at the Genola 2nd Ward
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 North Main Street, Genola, Utah. A viewing will
be held Monday, February 4, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. located at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100
West, Payson, Utah and again from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church.
