Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

Joyce Taylor Stevens Waite
Our beloved mother Joyce Taylor Stevens Waite, 75, of Payson, Utah passed away on January 22, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born July 17, 1943, the second of eight children to Frank and Nancy Stevens in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joyce graduated from Green River High class of 1961. She attended BYU for a time but found her special talent in styling hair. She attended Mary Kama Beauty School where she graduated top of her class. She was a professional beautician for 40 years. It was more than just a job; she had a great love to help beautify others, and went on to serve family and friends, even up to a couple of months before she passed away.

Joyce married John Goodwin May 24, 1968 and they were blessed to adopt two children, Juliann Sharp of Sutherlin, Oregon and Rachel Mower of Payson, Utah. They lived in a variety of different places including, California, Nevada, Oregon and Utah. John died on August 5th, 1992. Joyce later married Cleve M. Waite on July 3, 1996. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple Oct. 22, 1998, and blended her two children and his eleven children.
Joyce had a firm testimony and love for Jesus Christ. Her greatest desire was that we as family would make good choices so that we could be together forever. She had many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and her favorite calling was working with the children in the girls’ activity day program. She enjoyed doing genealogy and finding her family names to take to the temple. She served as a temple worker in the Provo Temple 2001-2004 and Payson Temple from 2013 – 2018.

She is survived by her husband Cleve, 6 siblings, Janet (Lynn – deceased) Waddell, Franklin (Charlene) Stevens, Annette (Robert) Reese, Julie Stevens, John (Sue) Stevens, (Robert – deceased) Chris Stevens-Mower, Wade (Karen) Stevens, Warren Stevens (deceased), 13 children, Juliann (Laurence Michael – deceased) Sharp and Rachel Mower, Seth (Shelly) Waite, Kerri (Douglas) Hamrick, Lyle (Jeanene) Waite, Tamralyn (Randal) Thorup, Chrystal (Peter) Kwiatkowski, Amber (Trenton) Anderson, Ira (Kerri) Waite, Dayton (Jeneane) Waite, Cleve Jr. (Kari) Waite, Evelyn (Robert) Morris, and Bryan Waite, 42 grandchildren  and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, and a son-in-law.

There will be two viewings: The first will be Thursday, January 31 from 6pm to 8pm at Walker Mortuary 587 S 100 W, Payson, UT 84651.  The second viewing will be Friday, February 1, 9:30-10:30 am at the South Stake Chapel 711 S. Peteetneet Blvd. Payson, UT 84651. There will be a family prayer at 10:30 and the funeral will immediately follow 11 am.
