Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

MAX "DUTCH" WIGHTMAN
Max Derrell Wightman died peacefully on May 30, 2019 in Provo, Utah.

Max went by the nickname Dutch and was born on August 30, 1924 to Max W. and Edna Schwartz in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In 1942, Dutch enlisted in the Navy where he would serve with the greatest generation in World War II as an Aviation Radio Gunner. Dutch flew in an SBD – Dauntless Dive Bomber. He came home in November of 1945 and one month later married his sweetheart Jacqueline McMullin.

Dutch and Jackie immediately moved to Logan, Utah where Dutch attended Utah State University and graduated in Forestry. They were blessed with four children. During their married life they lived in Logan, Tooele, Snowville, Payson and settled in Provo in 1966. For many years, Dutch’s second home was on the golf course where he enjoyed many friendships.

Dutch is survived by his children, Brad (Charlotte) Wightman, Jill (Joe) Savicki, Edward (Karri) Wightman and daughter-in-law Judy Wightman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Wightman, his brother, Ted Wightman and son, Rand Wightman. Dutch has ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dutch’s family would like to thank Rosetta and Sissy, who provided friendship and service to Dutch during the last years of his life. They’d also like to thank Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care.
