Payson Police Report
September 8
Three juveniles were very much alive when they were caught in the cemetery, when they should not have been. They ran upon seeing the officer, but were caught and will now have to appear in juvenile court for several charges.
Child abuse with a DCFS referral made
Officer responded to a report of domestic violence and determined it was a family problem with no violence. Officer learned that, on the previous day, domestic violence had occurred at an unknown location on the freeway within Salt Lake County or the Lehi area.
Police responded to 1028 West 450 South on a call of a hazardous condition. The roadway had flooded due to rain.
Police located an adult male with an active warrant and booked him into the Utah County Jail.
Officer responded to a case of tires being slashed and a vehicle keyed. Information was turned over to investigations.
Police located an adult male with three warrants. He was taken into custody, arrested, and transported and booked into the Utah County Jail.
Excessive water on the road, due to a plugged up drain, caused a hazardous condition and police were called. They notified the City Streets Department of the problem.
Police opened vehicles with keys locked inside.
September 9
A complaint of dogs running loose and barking at a neighbor was made. Reporting person said she had seen this and wanted the neighbor talked with. Officer called and left a message for the owner of the dogs.
Warrant. An adult male was located, arrested, and transported and booked into the Utah County Jail.
Officer stood by to keep the peace while a person gathered items from his residence.
A juvenile problem involving a dirt pile was handled, however, no accurate information was provided for police to do a follow up.
September 10
Three thefts occurred in different locations. Police responded to each. They were referred to investigations.
During the week, an officer stood by for keep-the-peace situations.
Officer was called to the Mt. View Apartments on a report of a four-year-old child wandering unresponsively around the neighborhood with no shoes on. The complainant reported that, while caring for the child and trying to find a parent, she found an unsupervised ten-month-old child. The two small children had been unsupervised for approximately one hour. When their mother finally arrived, she was intoxicated. DCFS was notified and when they arrived, they coordinated a safety plan for the children. Their grandmother took them for the night.
Domestic problem handled. A verbal altercation had occurred between a husband and wife. The husband had damaged a mug when he threw it against a wall. He then left the residence. No physical altercation was reported as having occurred. When police stopped the husband, he was soon released. However, two guns were taken from the home and given to another family member. This case will be sent to the city attorney for review.
Investigated vehicle accidents: Drivers responsible were given a citation. No serious injuries had occurred.
September 11
A domestic violence assault landed one adult male into the Utah County Jail. He was found to be pushing his mother into a wall and punching his adult brother multiple times.
Police were dispatched to 93 East 100 North on a report of a suspicious person. Result: A female was issued a citation.
An adult male was located as having an active warrant, was arrested and then transported and booked into the Utah County Jail.
Animal problems this week included deer in the canal, cows in the road, dogs barking and running loose, and cats causing problems.
September 12
Theft of medication. No further information.
Police were called to a suspicious person in a construction area. Upon arrival officer found a male with a flashlight. He was found to be the complainant’s boyfriend. Both the boyfriend and the complainant were highly intoxicated.
Police were dispatched to a 911, where a female could be heard yelling. Verified as a citizen dispute. Those involved were intoxicated. The female seemed to also be under the influence of medication. She was transported to Provo, where a friend took her home to Orem. The female kept calling police and each time changed her story from what she had first told the officer.
Police were dispatched to a family problem. Officer was advised that a male and female were arguing. Police were, at first, told that it was physical, which was determined to be false. The female had left and the mother of the male requested he leave.
Officers were dispatched to a possible assault detail. They made contact with the female at the residence, who stated nothing had occurred.
A bike was reported found within minutes after police received a report of a stolen bike. It was returned to its owner.
A thirteen-year-old boy was referred to juvenile court for a curfew violation.
Hazard: Stop sign was down.
Criminal mischief was handled. Rocks had been thrown through a front window, causing a great deal of damage.
September 13
Officer responded to a report of a motorcycle speeding up and down the road near 300 South 346 West. Officer located the motorcycle parked. Officer spoke with the driver, who confirmed he was traveling up and down the road, but not speeding. He told the officer his motorcycle is very loud and that he was revving the motor, hoping to alert his friend, because he was visiting and unsure of the address. Officer warned him to be more considerate of the people along the street.
Animal problem. A deer struck in the canal. Police were able to get it out of the canal and safely on its way.
A vehicle reported to be suspicious was parked on a hillside. Officer made contact.
Called for a theft, and verified as such with two suspects. Property was recovered and suspects cited.
Criminal mischief handled. Damage was done to a vehicle’s tire and the vehicle was smeared with cake.
Police were dispatched on a theft call involving two bikes. Report was filed and referred to investigations.
Dispatched to a family disturbance, police referred a male juvenile to juvenile court.
Residential burglary reported. Possibly the theft of money by an ex-roommate. Case was referred to detectives.
