PAYSON HISTORICAL SOCIETY: PICTURES TELL THE PAYSON STORY: HUISH FURNITURE AND CASKET COMPANY

"The building that once housed Dixon’s Market located between Main Street and First East on the north side of First North was originally constructed by Walter Huish in 1870," writes L. Dee Stevenson of the Payson Historical Society in this week's edition of The Payson Chronicle. "It housed a furniture store on the main floor and and a casket manufacturing business on the second floor. Huish Furniture and Casket Co. faced south at 51 East First North Street, known then as Main Street. Walter H. Huish and Sons operated the first undertaking parlor in Payson. It was an outgrowth of the furniture manufacturing business which developed from the Huish Planing Mill, located on the north side of what later became Memorial Park."

Find the rest of the story in the August 31, 2016 edition.
