LaVee Curtis
Our loving Mother and Grandmother, LaVee Curtis, 93, of Payson, Utah passed peacefully on December 24, 2017 in Nephi, UT. According to her great-grandson Alex “Grandma Vee is getting her Christmas wish and gets to spend Christmas with Grandpa Harvey”.
Elizabeth LaVee was born to William Edward and Alta Ann Park Warren on April 21, 1924 at home in Nephi Utah. She had 4 brothers and 1 sister. She was raised in Nephi, Utah and attended Juab Schools until her senior year. Her family moved to Los Angeles, California where she graduated from John C Fremont High School in l942.
Vee married the love of her life, Harvey Morgan Curtis, on August 10, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. They were sealed on August 10, 1983 in the Provo Utah Temple. They raised their three daughters in Payson, Utah: Connie (Jim) Wilson of Sandy, UT; Caren (Don L) Kirk of Payson, UT, and Jeanette (Lance) Wineteer of Nephi, Utah. They were blessed with 7 Grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren, who were all her greatest joy.
Vee retired on April 25, 1985 after 28 years as a checker for Safeway Stores, managed her rental homes, and then took on the job of tending her granddaughter, Morgan. She was an active member of Payson 1st Ward LDS Church and was called to serve at the Provo Temple from October 1985 to March 2000. She was a member of the Payson Jr. Cultus Club for approximately 65 years, and also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Mountain View Hospital. She enjoyed traveling and was up for any adventure. Vee lived for her family, especially her babies, and attended many of her grandchildren’s programs and ball games. She was an avid Jazz fan, watching most of their games on TV at home with her Jazz blanket. Her hobbies included crochet, golf, and scrapbooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her parents; her brothers, Ray, Merle, Clarence (Bud), and Cloyd Warren; her sister, Faye Carter; son-in-law, Don L. Kirk; and great-great granddaughter, Indy Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 11:00 am, at Payson First Ward Chapel, 225 South 400 East, Payson, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson Utah, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and prior to the funeral at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
