Glenn Ray Dixon
Glenn Ray Dixon, 92, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Hanford, California.
Glenn was born September 24, 1933, in Payson, Utah. He was the second of six children born to Blanchard and May Taylor Dixon. He valued Education and loved teaching. He attended public school in Payson, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at BYU and later earned a Master’s Degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in several callings including Adult Sunday School Teacher, where he said he would love to serve forever! From 1954 through 1956, he served a Mission in the East Central States based in Nashville, TN. In 1958, he married Jeraldine Jensen in the Salt Lake City Temple, and their union was blessed with 6 children. In 1967, he took a job at the National Reactor Testing Station of the Idaho National Lab, where he worked for 28 years, settling in the Blackfoot/Rose area, living there for 56 years. He and Jeri served two church missions, in Qingdao, China and in Bangkok, Thailand.
Glenn was known for his love of the outdoors and his generosity. He loved to camp and fish at Henry’s Lake, the Blackfoot Reservoir, and in Yellowstone, and could most often be found in his vegetable garden and with his fruit trees. At the end of each growing season, he delivered Hubbard Squash and Fruit to many of his neighbors and friends.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeri Dixon, 4 siblings, 6 children: Steve (Florence) Dixon of Bloomville, NY, Gail (Brian) Eliason of Delta, UT, Lynne (Michael) Jones of Mesa, AZ, Mary Ann (Mike) Metcalf of Mesa, AZ, Craig (Melissa) Dixon of Visalia, CA, and Chris (Jenny) Dixon of San Jose, CA, 20 Grandchildren, and 22 Great Grandchildren (so far).
A Memorial Service will be held at the Rose Ward building in Blackfoot, ID on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 12:00 Noon. All are welcome. There will be a meet and greet with the family after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
