Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

JAMES CHRISTOPHER HALL
James Christopher Hall, age 67, passed away February 21, 2018, in Kent, WA, at the home of his daughter, Sarah.  Chris was born on July 30, 1950, in San Francisco to Dr. Thomas Hall and Mary Jane Hughes Hall. The family settled in Payson, Utah.

Chris excelled in school and his winning personality and his heart ensured his popularity all through school, and he graduated with honors from Payson High School in 1968.  After high school Chris completed an LDS mission in Wales, UK.

Chris and Rena Whitelock were married August 3rd, 1973.  On February 11, 1977 their beloved daughter, Sarah Loraine, was born.  Chris and Rena later divorced, but remained close friends.

Chris was a compassionate, caring soul who devoted his life to helping those in need.  He earned his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah.  He worked with the elderly, the mentally challenged, and foster children in Utah, Arizona and Washington State.  He especially wanted to help foster children and he spent many years at the Casey Family Program in Seattle.

Chris enjoyed antiquing, estate sales and anywhere he might find treasures!  He especially loved collecting the beautiful glass work of Dorothy Thrope.  He was also interested in Russian culture and history and was able to make two trips there.  Chris was also an "armchair Jeopardy champion" and amazed us with his broad knowledge in so many diverse subjects.

Chris is survived by his daughter, Sarah Hall; Sarah's fiance Timothy Scott and their sons, Alexander and Malaki; a sister Connie (Dennis) Strong; a brother, Bruce (Julie) Hall and a sister, Julie (Tom) O'Niell; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends like family.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents and his long time friend/companion, Michael Santos-Boyd.

The family would like to thank Chris's doctors and staff of Virginia Mason Medical Center for their committed care.

A church service will be held in his honor on March 3rd, 2018 in Auburn, WA.  A graveside service will be held in Nephi at a later date.
