Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Forthcoming funeral services are planned for the following friends from our community. Complete versions of these obituaries may also be found in The Payson Chronicle.

Maurine Ross

Mary “Maurine” Topham Ross, 90, passed away peacefully October 29, 2018 surrounded by her children.

Maurine was born February 14, 1928 to Melvin and Pearl Topham. She learned early in life the value of hard work while helping her parents and siblings on the farm.

Mom told about being out in the fields thinning beets, singing at the top of her lungs, hoping for a talent agent to drive by and offer her a record deal. Mom loved to sing.

Mom and Dad met when they were in grade school. Their love grew for each other and they got married January 25, 1947. Later Mom and Dad were sealed for time and eternity in the Manti Temple.

Mom dedicated her life to her husband and their five children. She was the source of dad’s strength, but always let him take the lead.

Mom had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit and this helped her find the good in what life had to offer.

Mom and Dad worked side by side in providing for their family. They were able to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary before dad’s passing in March of 2018.

Mom’s legacy is one of devotion, kindness, hard work, laughter and love. Mom served in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including a mission with dad serving as the Bishop’s Store House.

Maurine is survived by her son Jerry (Marilyn) Ross, Santaquin, and daughter Marianne Stevenson, Central Valley, Daughter-in-law Sandy (Dan) Davis, 10 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sister Thelma (Don) Gibson and two brothers-in-law and five sisters-in law.

Maurine is preceded in death by her Sweetheart, sons Michael, Jan, and Bradford; son-in-law Brent Stevenson, and her siblings, two brothers and four sisters, and countless family and friends.

Mom we know that you are singing to dad and the boys.

The family would like to thank, with our sincere hearts, Seasons of Santaquin and their great staff, special care giver and friends Kori Vermer, Bonnie Ballard, Santaquin Second Ward, and all of our dear family and friends for their love and support.

There will be a viewing Friday, November 2nd from 10:00-11:30 am at Brown Family Mortuary, 66 South 300 East Santaquin. Graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at the Santaquin City Cemetery. Share condolences at www.brownfamilymortuary.com.
