Mourning the Passing of Friends: Forthcoming Funeral Services

“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ~ Helen Keller

Anna Jean Jones Bufton
Anna Jean Jones Bufton passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on September 14, 2017. She was born March 16, 1931 to William Heber and Fanny Elizabeth Mitchell Jones in Provo, Utah.

In her early life she was raised in Eureka, Utah where she spoke often of her fond memories of growing up there.  If the Tintic High School band was playing in a parade she and her sister and brother would stand and cheer.  Her family later moved to Payson where she attended Payson schools, with graduation from Payson High School in 1949.  Mom then went on to attend the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.  She loved to sing and shared that passion as she participated in many church and civic choirs throughout her life.

Mom married the love of her life, John “Duck” Bufton on April 26, 1957 and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo, Utah Temple on April 28,1990.  Together they had two sons who they dedicated their life to.  Mom worked in her early life for JC Penny’s located on Payson Main Street and later worked for Utah County as an outreach worker.  She also served for many years as a pink lady at Mountain View Hospital in Payson but her favorite job was serving in her home as a wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to support them in all of their activities, they could never do anything wrong in her eyes. She had many life-long friends who she stayed close with throughout her life. They could often be found enjoying time together; laughing, playing a good game of cards and enjoying a “sliver” of cake.

Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings.  Mom had a firm testimony of the gospel and would not hesitate to share it with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Donald Bufton, pparents, brothers; Alan, Lynn, and Bryce, and sister Norelle.  She is survived by her sons; Kyle (Denise) of Spanish Fork, and Alan (Doni) of Payson.  She is also survived by her grandchildren; Brad, Shannon Hales (Brad), Adam (Alyson), Clayson (Whitney), DaNeil Martinez (John), Kylee Street (Logan), Aaron (Kaeley), and Ali. She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hearthstone Assisted Living, Tender Care Hospice, and Canyon Home and Hospice Care for their dedicated care and love for our mother.
