Seussical Fun at CS Lewis

CS Lewis was the place to be, if Seussical fun you wanted to see. The Cat in the Hat and the Lorax too, were playing games, reading stories and gobbling down food.

Volunteers auctioned pies brought in by parents, with the funds raised going right back into the classrooms to purchase books. With dozens of delicious offerings such as chocolate peanut butter cup and dutch apple, it’s a sure bet the Cat in the Hat had to let out his belt before the night was through.

Kids of all ages enjoyed the carnival games and the photo booth had all kinds of fun props so kids could get their Seuss on while mom and dad snapped some photos. Face painting, ball toss, cotton candy and a cookie bake sale were also favorites with the kids and parents who came.

CS Lewis puts on this annual event around Dr. Seuss’ birthday to help kids get excited about reading.

“Everyone loves Dr. Seuss,” exclaimed Meagan Warren, board member at CS Lewis. “Parents and grandparents can quote the books as well as the kids who are learning them in class. Dr. Seuss brings out the fun loving child in all of us."

Each of the grades choose their favorite Dr. Seuss book to portray on stage in songs, skits and readings.

So… excited about Green Eggs and Ham I am. Mr. Brown Can Moo, and these kids can too. Thing One & Thing Two were cute through and through. And, the kindergarten classes singing away were sure to make any Grinch’s heart grow three sizes that day.
